Un RUBAN JAUNE pour SOUTENIR les soldats français en opération
A YELLOW RIBBON
to support the French soldiers in operation
Everybody remembers the deadly ambush that happened in the Kapissa region - Afghanistan - on August 18, 2008. Ten French soldiers were killed in action that day.
The ANSSO was born a month after this tragedy. Its founders from all walks of life among entrepreneurs; craftsmen; storekeepers; students; want regardless of political opinions, regardless of personal opinions about the military, or about the past, present, and future operations decided by the government, to assert and claim some sympathy and support from the civilians, most fellow-citizens as well as sympathizers from other nations to all the French soldiers who are in operation. The ANSSO will honour the memory of the combatants who fell while on a mission as well as it will never forsake the bereaved families of those killed in action. Last but not least, the"Yellow ribbon" association supports all the French soldiers who are far away, accomplishing their duty. The acronym ANSSO means "Association Nationale de Soutien à nos Soldats en Opération". Translated into English: "National association supporting our soldiers in operation".
The association means to honour the memory of those who fought unto death while in overseas operations through its website www.soldatsdefrance.fr

The yellow ribbon as a national symbol of support
The first bearing of this ribbon was an initiative of the Commanding Officer's spouse, and so the families of the 8eme RPIMA (the 8th Marine Infantry Paratrooper Regiment) who greatly suffered, displayed the same yellow ribbons at the funerals of their soldiers. This way, the ANSSO emblem is a yellow ribbon over which has been added the French flag colors (Bleu, blanc, rouge - Blue, white, red)

Chacun se souvient de l'embuscade mortelle dans la région de Kapissa en Afghanistan, le 18 août 2008. Dix soldats français sont morts au combat ce jour là.
L'ANSSO est née un mois après cette tragédie. Ses fondateurs, de toutes origines sociales, chefs d’entreprise, artisans, commerçants, étudiants, veulent, indépendamment de leurs opinions politiques ou de leurs positions personnelles vis-à-vis de l’armée ou des interventions passées, présentes et futures décidées par le gouvernement, assurer, affirmer et revendiquer la sympathie et le soutien de la société civile et du plus grand nombre de nos concitoyens, à nos soldats en opérations.
L'association entend aussi via le site www.soldatsdefrance.fr honorer la mémoires des soldats tombés en opérations extérieures.
L’association est ouverte à toutes et tous.
Le ruban jaune comme symbole national de soutien
Certes à l’image des anglo-saxons, mais surtout à l’image de ces familles du 8ème RPIMa de Castres, qui arboraient, à l’initiative de l’épouse du Chef de Corps de ce régiment durement éprouvé, un ruban jaune lors des funérailles de leurs soldats, notre emblème est ainsi un ruban jaune sur lequel sont rappelées sobrement les trois couleurs de notre drapeau.
